Inspired by the distinctive silhouette of the pyracantha, the Firethorn earrings blend the plant’s natural geometry with the warmth of its symbolic meaning. Firethorn’s bright berries and tenacious growth represent life’s enduring spark and the beauty found in strength.

These teardrop-shaped hoops are formed from hand-patinated bronze, shaped with gentle curves that echo firethorn’s arching stems. Small clusters of red freshwater pearls are nestled at the base, calling to mind the bright fruit that defines this remarkable plant.

Materials: The earrings are cast in hand-patinated bronze, accented with red freshwater pearls. The posts are 925 silver.

Measures: 1.4" L x 0.95" W

Botanical Jewelry by Michael Michaud

The Michael Michaud Jewelry Collection, designed by Michael Michaud, is a world renowned collection of botanical jewelry. It captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature using soft patinas on bronze accented with pearls, beads, glass and semi-precious stones. His exacting attention to detail gives you true to nature, botanical jewelry.

About our Jewelry

Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.

Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin and became a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.

In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewellery which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
