The Pink Magnolia necklace celebrates the spectacular spring display of magnolia trees, when broad, layered flowers open along bare branches before much of the foliage appears. Soft shades of pink and cream give the blooms a romantic freshness, while magnolias have long carried associations with grace, affection and the optimism of a new season.

A sweeping brown-patinated bronze branch extends across the neckline, carrying magnolia blossoms at different stages of opening around a larger central flower. Each bloom is finished by hand in softly graduated pink and cream enamel, bringing depth to the sculptural petals and emphasizing their natural variation. The branching composition follows the neckline beautifully, giving this Pink Magnolia necklace a striking floral presence with the feeling of a flowering branch brought to life.

About our Jewelry

Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.

Michael Michaud

Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin and became a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.

In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewellery which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
