The Plique-à-Jour Blossom earrings bring together magnolia-inspired flowers and the decorative elegance of historic enamelling. Their layered petals recall blossoms opening along a spring branch, while the softly defined cells and flowing floral lines draw on the influence of Art Nouveau. The result is a romantic botanical design with a distinctly decorative character.

Two hand-enamelled blossoms are linked vertically beneath each wire, their pearly creamy-white petals outlined by bronze finished with 24k gold plating. A freshwater pearl suspended below adds another softly luminous element and gives the earrings a graceful finishing drop. The articulated arrangement introduces gentle movement between the flowers and pearl, giving these Plique-à-Jour Blossom earrings a longer, more expressive silhouette while retaining an airy delicacy.

Materials: The Plique-à-Jour Blossom earrings are cast in bronze with 24kt gold plating and pearly creamy-white enamel, accented with a white freshwater pearl each. The wires are 925 silver with a 24kt gold plating.

About our Jewelry

Our unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.

Michael Michaud

Artist Michael Michaud attended the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, where he studied under designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin and became a master in the creation and manipulation of molds. After graduating in 1980, Michael Michaud continued to perfect his craft while working under jewelry designers in the New York City area.

In 1991, he found himself working in New York City's flower district and living in the beautiful Connecticut countryside - his love of the natural beauty that surrounded him began to blend with his passion for creating jewellery which lead to the birth of Michael Michaud Jewelry.
